Gayathri Vaidyanathan is a writer/editor in the Communications department at WRI India. Prior to joining WRI, she was a journalist in Washington, D.C. where she reported on the impact of environmental policies on society from the U.S and developing nations.
She has travelled across North America, Africa and Asia on reporting projects. Her work from coal towns in West Virginia was awarded a 2014 Society of Professional Journalists award for feature writing. In 2012, she received a best emerging writer award from the National Association of Science Journalists. She has been a U.N. and IDRC fellow.
She has a Master’s in journalism from Columbia University, and a Hons. Biochemistry degree from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, where she researched enzymes inhibitors for two years. She grew up in the U.A.E. and Canada. Her interests include yoga, gardening and travel.
